Training Classes


To register for class please print sign up form and mail it to Think Pawsitive with $40 deposit.



NOTE:
CLASS DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND MINIMUM CLASS PARTICIPANTS.
Our training methods are solely based on positive reinforcement with no physical or verbal corrections.  As a result, we
respectfully ask that you
do not enter or train in our building with your dog wearing either a pinch or choke collar of any
kind.  You may use a flat-buckled collar, a martingale style collar, harness or a head halter (assuming you have been
trained to properly fit and use such a collar).


Canine Good Citizen Class
8 week Course - 60 minutes - $150.00
Prerequisite: Must have completed Think Pawsitive's Puppy or Adult Manners class.
Purebred dogs, registered with AKC or Mixed breeds can take the CGC Test.
This course will improve on your dog's self control behaviors in your home and out in the community
among other people and dogs.  Each week we work on different test requirements for the Canine Good
Citizen Test. Dogs must be friendly around other dogs and people. The  Canine Good Citizen Test will be
given on the last week by a certified AKC Evaluator and those dogs that pass will receive a certificate from
the AKC (American Kennel Club). This certification is required to become a registered Therapy Dog.

Intro to Rally and Novice Obedience
8 week Course - 60 minutes - $140.00
Prerequisite: Must have completed Think Pawsitive's Puppy or Adult Manners class.
Rally is a relaxed obedience sport in which dog/handler teams complete a course of 10 to 20 (depending
on level) obedience maneuvers at designated stations along the course.  Teams proceed through the
course at their own pace while using any verbal means of encouragement.  It promotes fun and enjoyment
for dogs at all levels. In this class you will learn obedience techniques including solid sits, downs and
stands, front, finish, recall, and many others to help you successfully compete in both Rally and traditional
obedience venues.

Advanced Rally
8 week Course - 60 minutes - $140.00
Prerequisite: Must have completed Intro to Rally.
Students will learn the more advanced rally exercises. This class will refine and perfect all exercises that
have been previously learned and continue to teach proper execution of new signs.

101 Tricks Class
5 Week Course - 45 minutes - $90.00
Prerequisite: Suitable for dogs of all ages.
This class enhance your understanding of Classical and Operant Conditioning as you teach your dog to
perform a variety of new tricks! Throughout the class we will work on your mechanics, timing, criteria and
rate of reinforcement. Some of the behaviors we will shape your dog to perform will be going through, on
and around objects, hello and goodbye, take a bow spinning, and many more
.

Advanced Tricks Class

Prerequisite: 101 Tricks Class
This class will pick up where we left off!  Get ready to have some more fun with your dog.  Some of the
behaviors you will shape your dog to perform are bang/died, roll over, back up over obstacles, bow and
many more.

Beginner Puppy School
8 week Course - 75 minutes - $175.00

For puppies 8 to 16 weeks -
Small class sizes.  Class meets once a week for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  First 15 minutes of class is for
socialization. Your puppy will learn sit, down, name recall, leash walking, crate games, bed behavior, and
general manners.
*FIRST CLASS IS 1 HOUR 45 MINUTES LONG AND NO PUPPIES PRESENT FOR THIS LECTURE.

2x2 Weave Pole Class - Getting Started
10 week course - 60 minutes - $215.00 (Max. of 4)
(cost includes the rental of 2 sets of 2x2 weave poles  for the duration of the 8 week class)  
Prerequisite: Dogs 11 months of age or older.
You will learn: The mechanics of training weaves with 2 x 2’s, the difference between shaping and luring,
how to help your dog understand difficult weave pole entries and to maintain his/her drive and focus
through the entire set of poles.

Critical Elements
5 weeks; 60-minutes session; $125.00 (Includes Crate Games DVD)
Prerequisite:  Suitable for dogs of all ages.  
This class will teach you how to use crate games to get skills that will benefit your relationship for a
lifetime.  These skills will help your family pet or any competition dog develop into a brilliant superstar!  
These are some of the many skills:  Proofing self control with distractions, quite and relaxed in a crate, and
sit/stays  We will also aid your dog in learning self  control behaviors by using the It's Yer Choice Game.  
Lastly, the class will be teaching your dog games to build on their FETCH of toys or objects.  This is a
necessity in your dog's future class progression.

jump handling skills; teeter games; rear cross, front cross and post turn foundations; and contact
performance foundations.

key handling and positional cues for performing front crosses, rear crosses, 180’s, 270’s,
pinwheels, serpentines and threadles.

Advancing through Jump Grids
Dogs of all ages - 8 week course - 60 minutes - $140
Prerequisite:  Must have completed Agility Foundations II.
You will work progressively through various jump grids inspired by Susan Salo.  You will perform Set Point,
Bounce, One-Stride, Progressive, and Bending foundation grids and may be exposed to various advanced
grids.  If your dog is performing the foundation grids with stability and speed, we may incrementally
interject some handler movement into your exercises.

Contacts 101
Dogs of all ages - 8 weeks - 60 minutes - $145
Prerequisite: Must have completed Agility Foundations I and II.
In this class you will learn everything you'll need to have successful contact behavior for your dog’s agility
career.  Consistent performance will be sought using teeter games, building your understanding of contact
end behavior criteria, building  your dog's confidence and drive over contacts and back-chaining to full
height contacts.

Putting It All Together Agility Handling
12 weeks- 60 minute sessions- $215
Prerequisite: You must have completed Foundation III, 2x2, Contacts 101, Grids Class.
This class pulls all your prior class work together.  You will work on sequencing, making handling
decisions, maintaining criteria, while enhancing your understanding of the handling system.

Competition Handling Classes
10 weeks - 60 minute sessions - $175
Prerequisite: Must have completed through Foundations II, Handling 101, 2x2 Weaves, Contacts 101
or must get an evaluation by a Think Pawsitive Instructor.
Now that you know all the obstacles and handling positional cues, you would like to take agility to the next
level and compete with your dog at agility trials.  This class is designed to help you understand where
these handling cues need to go. 6-10 obstacle sequences will be evaluated and performed with your dog.
Your instructor will help you develop a better understanding of applying these skills in competition.

Dynamite Retrieving!
4 Week - 60 minute sessions - $90.00
Prerequisite: Suitable for dogs of all ages.
This class will teach your dog how to fetch or retrieve a toy or item that he/she LOVES!!  Whether you are
teaching this behavior from scratch or refining it in your dog, a quick game of fetch is a fantastic outlet to
take advantage of your dog's natural prey drive and knock the edge off even the most energetic dogs.
Retrieving is one of the few games that allows you and your dog to interact in play together - it's a brilliant
way to strengthen your human-dog bond. We will teach your dog to be interested in an object, charge after
it when it is thrown, pick it up, return it straight back to you and drop it in your hand or at your feet - all
without skylarking, sniffing, hesitation or detours!

Beginning Dock Diving Classes
6 weeks - 60 minutes - $195.00 (Max. of 6 students)
Prerequisite: Dogs must love swimming and attended at least two swim sessions at K9 Splash.  
Retrieving or playing with toys is a plus.  This class also allows you 1-20 minute swim session each
week to practice with your dog on dock diving skills.  
(no prong or choke collars allowed)
Dock diving is one of the most popular dog sports. Come learn different techniques to train your dog to
have confidence, perform various styles of jumping, gain greater height  and retrieve a toy in the water.  Any
and all breeds may compete to see who can jump   the furthest from a raised dock into the water.
Be prepared to get wet!
