
Canine Good Citizen Class 8 week Course - 60 minutes - $145.00 Prerequisite: Must have completed puppy or adult class. Purebred dogs, registered with AKC or Mixed breeds can take the CGC Test. This course will improve on your dog's self control behaviors in your home and out in the community among other people and dogs. Each week we work on different test requirements for the Canine Good Citizen Test. Dogs must be friendly around other dogs and people. The Canine Good Citizen Test will be given on the last week by a certified AKC Evaluator and those dogs that pass will receive a certificate from the AKC (American Kennel Club). This certification is required to become a registered Therapy Dog. Rally is a relaxed obedience sport in which dog/handler teams complete a course of 10 to 20 (depending on level) obedience maneuvers at designated stations along the course. Teams proceed through the course at their own pace while using any verbal means of encouragement. It promotes fun and enjoyment for dogs at all levels. In this class you will learn obedience techniques including solid sits, downs and stands, front, finish, recall, and many others to help you successfully compete in both Rally and traditional obedience venues. This class enhance your understanding of Classical and Operant Conditioning as you teach your dog to perform a variety of new tricks! Throughout the class we will work on your mechanics, timing, criteria and rate of reinforcement. You will work progressively through various jump grids inspired by Susan Salo. You will perform Set Point, Bounce, One-Stride, Progressive, and Bending foundation grids and may be exposed to various advanced grids. If your dog is performing the foundation grids with stability and speed, we may incrementally interject some handler movement into your exercises. Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 at 6:00pm Contacts 101 Dogs of all ages - 8 weeks - 60 minutes - $140 Prerequisite: Must have completed Agility Foundations I and II. In this class you will learn everything you'll need to have successful contact behavior for your dog’s agility career. Consistent performance will be sought using teeter games, building your understanding of contact end behavior criteria, building your dog's confidence and drive over contacts and back-chaining to full height contacts. Monday, April 2nd, 2012 at 7:30pm Thursday, March 15th, 2012 at 12:15pm Beginner Flyball 8 weeks - 60 minute sessions - $140 Prerequisite: Your dog must LOVE Tennis Balls!!! Dogs must be at least 8 months old. Beginner Flyball will teach your dog to go over jumps. They will learn how to retrieve a tennis ball by pushing it out of a box that dispenses the ball into the air. The dog grabs the ball in mid air and will eventually go back across the jumps. This is a team sport that will consist of 4 dogs on each team, each taking their turn and passing one another. The fastest team time WINS in Competition!! Thursday, April 5th, 2012 at 6:30 pm Putting It All Together Agility Handling 12 weeks- 60 minute sessions- $200 Prerequisite: You must have completed Foundation III, 2x2, Contacts 101, Grids Class. This class pulls all your prior class work together. You will work on sequencing, making handling decisions, maintaining criteria, while enhancing your understanding of the handling system. Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 at 7:15pm Competition Handling Classes 10 weeks - 60 minute sessions - $170 Prerequisite: Must have completed through Foundations II, Handling 101, 2x2 Weaves, Contacts 101 or must get an evaluation by a Think Pawsitive Instructor. Now that you know all the obstacles and handling positional cues, you would like to take agility to the next level and compete with your dog at agility trials. This class is designed to help you understand where these handling cues need to go. 6-10 obstacle sequences will be evaluated and performed with your dog. Retrieving is one of the few games that allows you and your dog to interact in play together - it's a brilliant way to strengthen your human-dog bond. We will teach your dog to be interested in an object, charge after it when it is thrown, pick it up, return it straight back to you and drop it in your hand or at your feet - all without skylarking, sniffing, hesitation or detours! This class also allows you 1-30 minute swim session each week to practice with your dog on dock diving skills. Dock diving is one of the most popular dog sports. Come learn different techniques to train your dog to have confidence, perform various styles of jumping, gain greater height and retrieve a toy in the water.
